Shannon’s Master’s thesis was entitled, Garments of Glory: An Investigation of Yahweh’s Act of Investiture in Ezekiel 16:1-14.
She is now studying for a DPhil in Theology at the University of Oxford under the supervision of Professor Hindy Najman and Dr Katherine Southwood. She is a student at Wycliffe Hall but is attached to Oriel through her connection to the Centre for the Study of the Bible in the Humanities.
Shannon’s dissertation is an expansion of her Master’s thesis: it focuses on the metaphorical acts of investiture and divestiture of dress by Yahweh upon personified Jerusalem. It will investigate how dress in the texts communicates identity, or is the bestowal of identity, and how honour and shame are intricate parts of these acts of investiture and divestiture.
