Ms Rahel Lampérth

BA, MSt

Rahel Lampérth is in her third year of a DPhil in Theology and Religion. She is being supervised by both Professor Hindy Najman and Professor Alison Salvesen.

Her research centres on the traditions of Esther, especially from the Hellenistic and Second Temple Period. She is examining this overlooked text for themes of death, prayer, identity, agency, and gender. More specifically, her project focuses on scenes of courage and faith in the face of death. In so doing, she engages and problematises the category of martydom. She will be presenting some of her work focusing on prayer and law in LXX Esther at IOSOT and SBL this year.

She completed her undergraduate, a BA (Hons) in Theology, at London School of Theology and received an award for her work in Old Testament Studies. Following this she studied for an MSt in Bible Interpretation, supervised by Prof. Salvesen at Wycliffe Hall.
