Ms Sarah Wisialowski

MA (hons), MA, MSt

Sarah Wisialowski is a fifth-year DPhil student at Oriel College under the supervision of Professor Hindy Najman. Sarah received her undergraduate degree in Biblical Studies and Mediaeval History from the University of St Andrews in 2017. She completed an MA Theology from King’s College London in 2018 and an MSt Theology from the University of Oxford in 2019.

Sarah’s doctoral research investigates how prayer was used in the Hellenistic-Jewish period to understand or change history through the relationship between prayer, revelation, and writing. She highlights the central role of revelation in interpretating prayer-texts and how that works as a hermeneutical lens to understand the interactions of prayer with time and history.

Research interests: Judaism in the Hellenistic world; prayer; time and history; confession; trauma studies; Dead Sea Scrolls; reception history.
